'Study of Light' - By Charlene Wentzel

For the past couple of weeks my work towards this project has been at a stand-still however, Alvaro Siza has been an inspiration to me over the last few days and his work has influenced the way I want to use light in my hermitage.

This afternoon (with help from one of the masters students) I produced my own 'study of light'. I took two pieces of cardboard and positioned them in various ways so as to capture the light and shadows created. I will now take this information and use it to strategically place openings in my hermitage. These openings will predominantly provide light in my hermitage.

Recombination Model - Week 2 Charlene Wentzel

My recombination model has a lot of interesting different spaces which I will incorporate into my hermitage design. The image in the top right corner shows a sense of passing two strong and solid concrete structures, turning a corner, and walking into this very diverse space. My hermitage will be representative of this.

Polish architect Jakub Szczesny 122cm at its widest point! 72 at narrowest Warsaw, Poland.
Not quite parasitic architecture but an idea from lack of space?? Pretty cool anyways!

Descriptive Geometry - Charlene Wentzel

I found descriptive geometry extremely challenging in the first weeks of this assignment, hence why it has taken me so long to post. But I am very happy with these drawings and I think this makes a very interesting starting point for my hermitage design.

Pasawhtee Kuku's Recombination Model & Process

This shows the process of my recombination model. I tried not to limit myself with the shapes and angles. I explored freely by using my plaster model and the cut out template. It was very enjoyable for me to work with recombination model.

I have came up with a final form and i used it as my final model. This is because it is most suitable for a person to be able to inhabit.
