These are a selection of my klecky prints and the final one I chose can be seen below.
I chose this one as the one to work with because it stood out from the rest in terms of prominence of shape. The print had a central focus being the empty space running down the centre of the print and this focal area gave way to the rest of the space. Also, the shape overall is very defined, there are no splatters of ink across the page or varying lines which distract from the main shape. The different sized blobs also create a very interesting aesthetic with their varying densities of tone and texture.
These are a few of the drafts from my contours and as can be seen it took a few tries to get the idea of contouring right and the line weight required fluctuated a bit from one try to another till I found the correct balance.
the final contour can be seen below :)
Seen above are my drafts of the Hatching, cross hatching and poche drawings. The difference in techniques is quite evident and my first hatching (the one with the horizontal line, bottom left) turned out quite horrible as using lines in the same direction without a lot of difference in line weight and differing spaces between the lines created a very confusing piece. This was corrected in my second hatching (top right) where these problems were fixed and resulted in a much more successful drawing :)
However, the poche, in my opinion, communicated the idea of varying depth most successfully.
Above is my final combination of the hatch/poche drawing.
Following below are the charettes from the two studio sessions.
Both were supposed to depict the idea of movement using visual means, the first using straight lines and the second using curves and circles. Out of he two, the second one is far more successful as it clearly highlights the idea of movement not only through its 'spinning' illusion but because it suggests movement as it physically moves off the page too and the decreasing number of lines and wider spaces suggest the idea of the image 'fading' off the page :)
sweet =) thats all!!

Hi Marisha,
ReplyDeletegood presentation and composition of the photos!
your comments are clear and describe very well your work over the first week.
The second charette about the movement is quite rich in term of line weight, expression of feelings, the composition between the 3 circles is nice maybe i wouldnt have left such a big white space at the bottom of the page for the generam composition, overall, good work and researches for the first project, keep working this way!
